I want to leave a portion of my estate to charity. What are my options?

There are many different, wonderful options for leaving a gift to charity. At one end of the spectrum, really, this is something that a qualified attorney should counsel on, but you may think about providing gifts during your lifetime to the charity. If you’re looking more after you pass, it could be done as simply as a gift through a will or through a living trust. For somebody with more significant assets, that’s concerned about tax consequences, we may look at some advanced planning techniques, things such as a charitable remainder trust or a charitable lead trust.
