What happens if I don’t have a will?

Well, if you die and you don’t have a will what happens is that you’re probably going to end up having your estate go through what we call probate, which is a process here in Florida that typically takes 6 to 12 months and on average it’s reasonable to expect to spend 3 to 5% of the value of the estate.

Another part of that answer is that a judge may determine who’s going to get your stuff and God forbid if you have minor children that can be a real messy situation if you don’t have a will or some sort of a document that appoints guardians for the kids.
